Table for Theatre... Check!

On Saturday my darling wife informed me that she had found the "perfect" drinks table for our Theatre. Being 200km away did not really help... so she sent me the following image and a video (still being uploaded) of the supposed "wow factor" feature... the swivel... in which the top glass panel turns to reveal the amazing hidden bottom glass panel; NOTE THE SARCASM!

Houzz Article - A Buyer's Guide to 'The Sofa'

There's nothing better than to curl up and relax in a cosy sofa. But buying one that will stand the test of time requires some careful consideration. The important thing is not to rush into an impulsive purchase as your sofa will be one of the most-used pieces of furniture in your home.

Provincial Home Living - 20% Off Hutches and Buffets

One of the places which stocks furniture that goes well with the overall style of our house is Provincial Home Living. Yes, I do agree with a lot of people that their furniture is generally expensive, however when they have a sale it is possible to pick up some good buys. The sale announced today is 20% off buffets and hutches. Check out their website for more information...

Side Table and Towel Rack Purchased

Today my darling wife and I went to Furniture Biz in Bendigo to check out what bargains they had in their "massive floor stock clearance". There was some lovely furniture that we will consider purchasing once our house is complete (because it will end up costing more once storage is factored in) but we did pick up a small table that will go at the junction of the Rumpus and Landing and act as a phone/lamp table as well as a towel rack that will go in our Master Ensuite (if it fits)... otherwise, I have one of my sister's Christmas presents done!

TV Cabinet Ideas

Today I was looking at the Provincial Home Living website to see if their 40% price reduction for their Chesterfield leather lounges was worth considering when I came across the buffet shown below as a potential TV stand. It comes in a range of different stains, so don't worry too much about the colour. The only problem, it's price: $3000!!!

Furniture That Tilby Wanted to Buy

In the same shop that the picture frame also lives the furniture shown below. Tilby, as a loving wife, thought that she would only buy one item without husband approval, however I have already been booked in for a trip to Melbourne soon (with the trailer I reckon). Do you think that the furniture will go with our Art Deco style?

Provincial Home Living - 20% Off Libraries

For those that don't already know, I'm as tight with my money as I am with picking up problems with our house build! I generally don't buy anything unless it's on sale (such as our theatre speaker system and our furniture) or unless the item is urgent.

Today I received an email from Provincial Home Living to inform me that they are discounting the price of all their libraries by 20%, which makes them quite a good buy. The offer ends at the end of March so I've got a bit of time to chew over the decision about whether or not to take up the offer. The one problem that immediately sticks out is that we are having 2740mm heigh ceilings and the libraries only come at a height of 2100mm.

Lounge Suite for Living Area

I went out to Harvey Norman to look at a home theatre system which was on sale and while I was wandering around I noticed a great looking lounge suite that I reckon would go great in our living area. When I saw it a few weeks ago it was on sale and I would not consider purchasing it for the current price of $5999!

Furniture Update... Can't Build to Size

Today I received a call from Moral Home Furnishings that started with the line "I'm sorry to bother you on the weekend, but we can't do the sofa that you ordered in the size that you wanted." With all of the dramas that I have been having with the house lately I was just about ready to give the lady a piece of my mind when she added, "but don't worry we are going to make it a little bit larger". She explained to me that the size that we ordered, 2100mm, did not align with the buttons (as shown in the pictre below) so we have the choose whether to have the sofa 60mm wider or narrower. There is no way that I am paying $3000 for a sofa and then making it smaller!

Our First Major Furniture Purchase

Today is the day that we made our first major purchase of furniture for our house. Yes, we have purchased some side lamps and other random small items, but today was the first big one! In total we bought a dining table, eight chairs, a buffet, a coffee table, two sofas and a table light for the landing. The damage to the budget, no comment! All of the items were purchased from Morale Furniture (in Cooper Street, Somerton, Victoria).

Furniture Picked... Deciding What to Order

We have finally found the furniture that we think will go perfectly with our house. I will update the post when I have photos of all of the furniture (because I need to grab a few more catalogues). This is not the full house... the beds are still an unknown! Most prices are on the items.

Options for Grand Alfresco Dining Setting

As I explained in the post about the options for the dining setting in the small alfresco... I am simply collecting ideas for the furniture that I could purchase, in this case for the dining setting to put in the Grand Alfresco. Ideas and suggestions are most welcome.

Option for Small Alfresco Dining Set

Even though it will probably be six months until we are able to start having furniture delivered I don't see any harm in gathering ideas. The best options that I have found for an outdoor dining setting to put in the small alfresco is the Melia 7 Piece Outdoor Dining Setting.

Featuring a ceramic tile-top table and unique wrought iron-style detailing to the chairs, the Melia Outdoor Dining Setting provides a stylish look to any backyard.

Practical Design - Measuring 1620 x 1010mm, the rectangular table features a sturdy aluminium frame which comfortably seats up to 6 people. Easy to wipe down spills and low-maintenance, the ceramic tile-top is a particularly practical option for families and for those who regularly entertain guests.

Comfy Seats - The Melia Dining Setting comes with 4 matching sling chairs and 2 rockers so you can take your pick between which style is best suited to your comfort. Melia is also available as a 3-Piece, consisting of a table and 2 rocking chairs.
